Browser extension privacy policy
For the EmployerCosts job-listing overlay extension. Last updated July 6, 2026.
The EmployerCosts browser extension is designed to collect nothing.
What it does
On supported job sites (Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter), the extension reads the salary and location text already displayed on the page and computes the fully-burdened employer cost locally, in your browser. It then shows that figure as a badge next to the salary.
What it does not do
- No data collection. It does not send any data to us or any third party.
- No network requests. All tax data and logic are bundled in the extension; nothing is fetched at runtime.
- No analytics, telemetry, cookies, or tracking.
- No accounts, no sign-in.
- It does not read, store, or transmit your browsing history or personal information. The salary and location text is used momentarily for the on-page calculation and is never stored or sent anywhere.
What is stored
Only your own settings — state basis (per-job vs. fixed), your selected state, hours per week, and the workers'-comp and benefits toggles — saved with chrome.storage.local on your device. You can clear them by removing the extension.
Permissions
- storage — to persist your settings locally.
- Host access to the four job sites — so the content script can read the on-page salary and location text to do the math. No content is transmitted anywhere.
